The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”) announced it is accepting applications for the 2019 Environmental Awards.

For the past 15 years, ADEQ has recognized environmental leaders from around the Natural State. The ADEQ Environmental Awards is one of Arkansas’s most prestigious environmental recognition programs.

The awards highlight what Arkansas businesses and organizations are doing in areas of sustainability, innovative technology, and environmental stewardship.

The awards include:

  • Environmental Stewardship (“ENVY”) Award
  • Arkansas Environmental Technology (“TECHe”) Award
  • E2 Energy Award
  • ADEQuest Award

The ENVY Award showcases the work of citizens, businesses, industries, farms, and government agencies that are protecting and enhancing the environment in extraordinary ways, demonstrating that they deserve to be the ENVY of Arkansas. Last year’s winner was Delta Plastics.

The TECHe Award was established in 2016 and honors new advances in technology or the innovative use of technology to protect and enhance the state’s environment. The TECHe Award honors exceptional or unique programs and activities that use technology to go beyond traditional environmental control measures. The City of Fayetteville received the TECHe Award in 2018.

The E2 Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate outstanding leadership by implementing forward-thinking initiatives in areas of energy efficiency, advance energy, and renewable energy. Last year’s recipient of the E2 Award was Arkansas Rural Internet Service.

The ADEQuest Award showcases the next generation’s quest for advancements in science and protection of the environment. Recipients of the 2018 ADEQuest Award were Meghana Bollimpalli and Little Rock Central High School.
