On January 12, 2021, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission revisited the older EEO-1 component survey and set some deadlines for the 2020 EEO-1 filing and 2019’s EEO-1 filing.

An EEO-1 report is a report of employment data categorized by employee race/ethnicity, gender, and job category. A sample copy of the EEO-1 form and instructions is available here.

Although the EEOC confirmed that collections will open in April 2021, the precise opening dates of the collections, as well as the new submission deadline dates, will be announced by a notice on the EEOC’s home page at www.eeoc.gov as well as on the new dedicated website for the agency’s EEO data collections at https://EEOCdata.org

The EEOC will also send notification letters to eligible filers. One category of businesses that must file includes businesses with 100 or more employees. If you’re unsure if your business is required to file an EEO-1, here is some more information about who must file.

These dates have been delayed numerous times before, but employers may want to put this item on their April 2021 calendars.
