Be the first employer on the block to have one!

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has issued a new poster, intended to replace the old (as of yesterday) "Equal Employment Opportunity Is the Law" poster.

The new one -- "Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination Is Illegal" -- really is quite a bit more user-friendly than the old one, although as an employers' attorney I'm not sure that's a good thing. Nicer to look at, lots more bullet points, which means people are more likely to read it, and there's a nice pdf version suitable for posting electronically, which will be welcome news for employers with remote workers. (There are also html versions, but I thought they were kind of ugly.)

The biggest innovation on the new poster is a QR code that lets employees go directly to the EEOC's web page on "how to file a charge." Excuse me while I try it out . . .

. . . oh, darn! It works! Here's the result from my phone:

I wonder when plaintiffs' lawyers are going to start doing this.

One more note: If you were ahead of me and downloaded the new posters on Wednesday, you'll need to scrap them and download the versions that were released yesterday. There was an unidentified problem with the Wednesday versions. (The QR code was probably taking people to malware sites, or hacking into their income tax records, and bank and credit credit card accounts.)

Just kidding, EEOC! Here's where you can download all the versions of the new poster.
