On behalf of the nationally well-known professional boxing promoter, New Jersey Sports Productions, d/b/a Main Events, Samuel Littlepage (Member, Washington, D.C.) and Melissa Alcantara (Member, Washington, D.C.) have filed a trademark infringement and unfair competition action in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida (Tampa Division) charging a St. Petersburg company, Main Event Boxing Gym, with violating the federal Lanham Act in connection with that Florida company’s boxing operations.  Partnering with HBO, ESPN and NBC, New Jersey Sports Productions has been promoting, broadcasting and producing professional boxing matches since the late 1970s, including producing multiple world championship events (featuring such boxing greats as Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman and Mike Tyson).  The Florida defendant, in addition to operating a boxing gym and training facility, uses professional boxers to promote boxing matches in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area.
