As of June 2022, Facebook has 1.62 billion monthly active users and sees 8 billion average daily video views from more than 500 million users. While the popular use of social media has increased exponentially over the past decade, its impact on the law and litigation remains in its early stages.

Many jurisdictions have yet to establish uniform methods of handling issues such as the discovery of social networking content and the boundaries of acceptable communications between parties via social networking websites. The rules of evidence and the rules of discovery are often more relaxed in workers’ compensation matters in both Federal and State litigation. Join Weber Gallagher attorneys Chris Davis and Michael Hyland as they discuss the issues surrounding workers’ compensation cases and social media. Items that will be discuss include:

  • How to discover social media information
  • How to admit it into evidence
  • The ethical concerns regarding obtaining the social media information
