The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor will continue to coordinate with the Mexican consul in New Orleans to ensure that Mexican nationals in Louisiana and Mississippi are aware of and exercise their rights under federal employment law. The newly inked agreement, which renews a similar agreement signed in 2010, will establish a system for the Mexican consulate to forward complaints from Mexican nationals to the Wage and Hour Division. The plan will also set up a system through which the Mexican consulate can contact Mexican employees who have returned to Mexico and who are owed back wages.
