Beginning January 11, 2016, Lake County educational impact fees will increase to $9,324.00 for single family units, $8,045.00 for multi-family units and $5,856.00 for mobile homes located within mobile homes parks. Educational impact fees are imposed by local governments and paid by developers to address the increase in school facility infrastructure demands created by new development.

The collection of impact fees is typically done during the issuance of the building permit, although individuals may pre-pay prior to submitting a building permit application. An individual may pre-pay at the current rate of $7, 719.00 for a single family home, $ 4,636.00 for a multi-family dwelling and $2,537.00 for a mobile home. Pre-payments will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016. If an individual does not pre-pay by 5 p.m. on January 8, 2016, they will be required to pay the adjusted educational impact fee during the issuance of the building permit. Pre-payments are valid for 12 months.
