Get a tour through our 2015 Training Benchmark Report survey findings during our free webinar on Wednesday, July 22

While most ethics and compliance officers work hard to keep their training programs effective, they struggle to find answers to many questions, including:

  • How well is my training program adapting to the needs of an evolving workforce and emerging risks?
  • Is my organization deploying its resources related to training—both in dollars and FTEs—most effectively?
  • Does training help me defend my organization against legal or regulatory risk?

To answer these and many other pressing questions, NAVEX Global surveyed 677 individuals responsible for ethics and compliance programs in their organization. From their answers, we’ve gained useful information that we hope will provide both inspiration and motivation to training managers so they can make their organizations’ ethics and compliance programs even more effective.

On Wednesday, July 22, we will release our survey results during our free webinar, “Benchmarking Your Compliance Training Program” (all webinar registrants will also receive a complimentary copy of the full benchmark report). We will also provide practical recommendations that will help ethics and compliance leaders fully leverage the survey findings within their training programs.

As a preview of this year’s report, here are some of our key findings:

  • Culture is the Top Objective (Once Again): With 46 percent of survey respondents answering that “creating a culture of ethics and respect” was their number one priority, it was the top objective for our survey respondents—as it was last year. “Complying with laws and regulations” was the second most-cited objective at 31 percent. Respondents also said that the biggest threat to their program effectiveness is employee cynicism (37 percent) and fear of retaliation for speaking up about misconduct (35 percent)—placing even more pressure on training programs.
  • Training Time for Senior Leaders and Boards of Directors is on the Decline: Compared with last year’s results, senior leader training dropped by nearly 90 minutes to 4.38 hours and board training declined by an hour to 2.0 hours—a disconcerting trend. Without the most senior leaders setting the right “tone at the top,” compliance professionals will find it extremely difficult to meet their stated top objective of creating a strong culture of ethics and respect.
  • Training Programs are Evolving—Slowly: From addressing emerging risk topics (especially cybersecurity and social media) to evolving training format deliveries (such as gamification and collaborative training), our year-over-year findings indicate that programs are slow to adjust to emerging trends. To keep up with their organization’s evolving needs and risks—and heightened regulator-imposed standards, training program managers should consider ways to build more responsiveness into their programs.

We hope you’ll join us for the upcoming webinar, where we’ll take you through all of the survey findings—and answer questions about the top ethics and compliance training challenges you’re facing. Register today!
