On Jan. 31, 2022, Prince William County, Virginia, released its draft Land Use Chapter and draft Future Land Use Map for public review and comment.

The new releases are part of the county’s comprehensive plan update known as Pathway to 2040. The proposed text and map create new opportunities for residential and commercial development, including higher density recommendations in certain activity centers throughout the county.

The Prince William County Planning Office is also hosting an open house on Feb. 10, 2022, at the Beacon Hall Conference Center, George Mason University SciTech Campus, to provide an opportunity for public comment. Public hearings before the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors are expected in spring 2022, with a final adoption anticipated in May.

For background, please see McGuireWoods alerts published April 29 and May 19, 2021.

McGuireWoods attorneys and planners have been following the comprehensive plan update since 2018 and are available to discuss opportunities and/or impacts on specific projects.
