The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has proposed numerous changes to the current student records regulations, 23 Illinois Administrative Code Part 375, including changes to the definitions of permanent and temporary student records and student directory information. School districts and community members have until November 28, 2011 to provide ISBE with comments to these proposed amendments. If adopted, the amendments may require significant changes to school districts’ student records procedures. Thus, we encourage districts to review the proposed amendments, and provide any comments or concerns to ISBE by November 28. Public comment may be submitted via e-mail (rules@isbe.net) or via standard mail (Shelley Helton, Agency Rules Coordinator, ISBE, 100 North First Street - S-493, Springfield, Illinois 62777-0001).
