The USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) has released its February 2017 statistics.  After a spike in new petition filings for January 2017, new filings returned to a more typical pace in February.  January 2017 saw 246 new petitions filed, whereas only 130 new petitions were filed in February 2017.  The overall pace for Fiscal Year 2017 continues to be above 2000 petitions, which would be the highest annual total to date.

The PTAB’s full statistical report can be found at (https://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/aia_statistics_february2017.pdf).
