The New York Public Service Commission has unanimously approved the Article VII application of our client, New York Transco, to proceed with the construction of their proposed AC transmission line between Rensselaer and Dutchess Counties. The New York Energy Solution Project (NYES) will replace 80-year-old transmission lines with new, more modern equipment to make the transmission of electricity safer and more effective.
This is a major and historical development for New York State, given that the state has not approved construction of electric transmission lines of this size, until recently, for decades. NYES is connected to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s larger plan for a green economy. New York is investing in transmission as part of a plan for moving renewable energy generated in upstate areas to more densely populated areas in downstate New York.
A large team of attorneys and professionals at Harris Beach played a critical role in providing counsel and support to New York Transco in the development of its Article VII application during the many months of review by state regulators.
