Texas Takes Step Toward Approving Charter/TWC Cable Merger

With approval of their proposed merger pending in the FCC, Charter and TWC recently filed an application to amend service provider certifications of operating authority with the Public Utility Commission of Texas. On Friday, the PUCT approved the application.

Although Charter and TWC’s application does not detail the public interest benefits or potential harm of the merger in Texas, our previous post describes the commitments that “New Charter” will make to ensure that certain public interest benefits are realized in each of the communities served across the country. Our previous post also highlights some of the concerns that communities may want to consider and voice as the review process is underway at both the state and federal level.
