USTR Issues NAFTA Renegotiation Objectives -

On July 17, 2017, U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Robert Lighthizer released the Trump Administration’s objectives for the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). An overarching objective for the Trump Administration is to improve NAFTA for American manufacturers and workers.

U.S. Calls For KORUS Special Joint Committee -

United States Trade Representative (USTR) Robert Lighthizer formally notified Korea in July that the U.S. is calling a special Joint Committee meeting under the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS) to start the process of negotiating to remove barriers to U.S. trade and consider amendments to the agreement. USTR’s action is consistent with the Trump Administration’s stated objective of reducing the trade deficit.
