The Supreme Court has sent the creatures discussed in Beth’s December 7, 2021 blog back into obscurity.  In an Order dated December 8, 2021, that Court granted a temporary injunction and stayed the candidate-filing period for the 2022 elections for all offices.  The date for primaries has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 17, 2022, and the trial court is directed to “hold proceedings necessary to reach a ruling on the merits of plaintiffs’ claims and to provide a written ruling on or before Tuesday, January 11, 2022.”  Any party seeking review of the trial court’s ruling must appeal to the Supreme Court within two days and should expect that the Supreme Court will respond with an expedited briefing and hearing schedule.
