USCIS announced on March 5th that it will be publishing a newly-revised Form I-539 on its website on March 8, 2019. USICS will removing the prior Form I-589 version but will accept the older I-589 version (12/23/16) over the course of a two week “grace period” until March 21, 2019. USCIS will reject any Form I-539 with an edition date of 12/23/16 or earlier received after March 21, 2019. This new Form I-539 version will include a new Form I-539A, Supplemental Information for Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status, which will need to be signed by I-539 “co-applicants” on the primary Form I-539. The new Form I-539 form version will also institute a mandatory biometrics fee and subsequent biometrics appointment requirement for all applicants.
