As noted, program registration was limited and due to an overwhelming response, the program has now reached maximum capacity. This program will be recorded and available on our website within the next two weeks. Thank you for your interest in NAM’s CLE programming and please stay tuned for additional CLE programs offered through the NAM Academy!

Although mediation resolves most disputes, some mediations end in impasse. Such disappointments can usually be avoided, and positive resolutions achieved, when advocates are armed with knowledge of common mediation pitfalls and develop negotiation skills that can enhance mediation outcomes.

Join two of NAM's highly regarded neutrals, Hon. John P. DiBlasi (Ret.) and Richard P. Byrne, Esq., and learn how appropriate preparation, smart brief-craft, and thoughtful strategies during the mediation session — focused on the purpose, logistics and goals for the session — can not only reduce the potential for failure but maximize results.

Meet NAM’s Presenters

Judge DiBlasi is the former presiding Justice of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. During his illustrious career, he has arbitrated and mediated more than 3,000 cases with an ADR practice that focuses on resolving commercial, international, finance, employment, entertainment, land use, and professional malpractice matters. In 2022, Judge DiBlasi was ranked a Top Three Mediator in the United States by the National Law Journal Best Of Survey for the ninth straight year. Furthermore, in 2021, he was voted a Top Ten Mediator in the New York Law Journal Best Of Survey, for the twelfth consecutive year.

Mr. Byrne has mediated issues in a wide variety of specialty areas, including commercial matters, employment discrimination claims, employment contract disputes, construction litigation, complex personal injury and property damage claims, together with insurance, reinsurance and risk transfer matters. Mr. Byrne has earned the distinction of being voted a Top 3 Mediator in the United States for the eighth straight year by the 2022 National Law Journal Best Of Survey and for the past eight years, he was ranked a Top 10 Mediator by the New York Law Journal Best Of Survey. He has been awarded an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available, based on its peer review process.

Both Judge DiBlasi and Mr. Byrne are available to arbitrate and mediate cases throughout the United States.
