As Dayton’s defense industry continues to grow, a local developer plans to invest more than $100M in a mixed-use development aimed at attracting defense contractors. Dayton-based Woodard Development purchased a 55-acre tract near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for its Mission Point development project that is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the area when complete, the Dayton Business Journal reports. JobsOhio “approved an Ohio Site Inventory Program (OSIP) grant for the project”; the program “provides grants and low-interest loans for speculative job-ready development projects across the state of Ohio, seeking to fill gaps in the state’s real estate inventory,” according to the article.

Woodard plans to build “seven office facilities ranging in size” on the site that “allows for multiple product types, traditional multi-story offices, and research and development spaces with the option to lease or own.” Four buildings “will be traditional office spaces totaling over 230,000 square feet in sum.” The other three buildings “will host flex office spaces with a grand total of 180,000 square feet,” and “[n]early 14 acres have been set aside for residential units.”
