OSHA announced it will take comments on leading safety and health indicators in the workplace. In early 2017, the agency will release a preliminary version of its annual leading indicators guide and allow the public to suggest changes. OSHA is offering this catalog as voluntary guidance and will not specify which indicators employers or workers should choose to use. Safety advocacy groups, such as the National Safety Council, are pushing for increased use of leading indicators, which look at actions that could foreshadow and help prevent hazardous incidents.
