West Africa Ebola Outbreak -

On October 29th, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) issued a new fact sheet on the Ebola outbreak. The fact sheet highlighted the U.S. delegation led by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (U.N.) Samantha Power that recently visited West Africa, as well as the arrival of a U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) team in Monrovia, Liberia, to support the U.S. Government response on the ground.

On October 30th, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim announced a $100 million increase in the World Bank’s funding to support foreign health workers combating the Ebola outbreak in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The World Bank’s total pledge of $500 million will hasten the deployment of the medical, training, and support personnel needed in all three countries over the coming months.
