What Caused the Alltrust Data Breach?

The Alltrust data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Alltrust’s filing with the Attorney General of Maine provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, On February 14, 2024, Alltrust detected unusual activity on a computer network belonging to one of its subsidiaries, Aspire USA, LLC (“Aspire”).

Shortly after discovering the incident, Aspire’s IT team identified and stopped a file transfer that was in process. Then, Aspire secured its network and launched an investigation with the help of third-party cybersecurity experts.

Through this investigation, Aspire confirmed that an unauthorized party accessed its network between February 12, 2024, and February 15, 2024, and removed certain files containing confidential consumer information during that time.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Alltrust reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. Aspire completed this process on February 26, 2025, and while the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, driver’s license number, and financial account information.

On February 27, 2025, Alltrust sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
