Aloha Nursing Rehab Centre Reports 2022 Data Breach Affecting More Than 20k Patients

On February 24, 2023, Aloha Nursing Rehab Centre (“Aloha”) filed notice of a data breach with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights after learning that an unauthorized party accessed electronic files containing confidential patient information from the company’s computer network. Based on the company’s official filing, the incident resulted in an unauthorized party gaining access to patients’ full names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account information, driver’s license or state identification numbers, and protected health information. After confirming that consumer data was leaked, Aloha began sending out data breach notification letters to all 20,216 individuals who were impacted by the recent data security incident.

On December 28, 2022, Aloha confirmed that on July 8, 2022, an unauthorized party accessed one or more files on the company’s network. A subsequent investigation confirmed that this file contained confidential information belonging to certain patients.

Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, Aloha Nursing Rehab Centre began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your full name, date of birth, Social Security number, financial account information, driver’s license or state identification number, medical record number, patient account number, health information, and health insurance information.
