President Obama Signs Outpatient Status Notification Bill On August 6, 2015, President Obama signed the Notice of Observation Treatment and Implication for Care Eligibility (NOTICE) Act. This legislation requires hospitals to provide specific notice to patients who receive outpatient observational services for more than 24 hours. CMS Extends Delay in Two-Midnight Rule Enforcement CMS has announced it will extend the partial enforcement delay of the two-midnight rule through the end of 2015 and will not approve Recovery Audit Contractors to conduct patient status reviews for dates of admission October 1, 2015 through December 15, 2015.
HHS Issues Proposed Rule For Faith-Based or Religions Organizations On August 6, 2015, HHS issued a proposed rule that, among other things, requires faith-based or religious organizations administering a program supported with direct HHS financial assistance to provide beneficiaries with a written notice informing them of their religious liberty protections.
