What Caused the Arcis Golf Data Breach?

The Arcis Golf data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, at this early point, Arcis’s filing with the Attorney General of Texas provides only limited information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, Arcis recently experienced a data security incident in which an unauthorized actor was able to access confidential information that had been provided to Arcis by consumers.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Arcis Golf reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, address, driver’s license number, financial information, and date of birth.

We also know that the incident affected 15,641 people in Texas, although it is possible that there are many other victims nationwide as Arcis operates golf courses and country clubs nationwide.

Arcis Golf notified the Attorney General of Texas of the breach on July 2, 2024. Typically, this is around the time that companies will also send out data breach letters to anyone whose information was leaked as a result of the incident. However, it’s certainly possible that the timeline for the Arcis data breach is different. Regardless, once sent, these letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
