The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority has published its “Preparatory Guidelines on Product Oversight and Governance arrangements for manufacturers and distributors of insurance products” in all of the official languages of the EU.  

This may seem more significant than it is, because the English language versions of the Guidelines and related documents were published in March and April 2016. So: for some, this is at least partially old news. (See, for example, our blog post here.)

However, publication of the all languages versions has triggered the Member States National Competent Authorities’ “comply or explain” obligations. They now have two months to tell EIOPA whether they comply, or intend to comply, with the Guidelines, or not.
