The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) announced yesterday a revamped hotline for reporting fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement involving DHHS programs. Complaints investigated by the OIG include, among other things, false or fraudulent claims submitted to Medicare or Medicaid; kickbacks or inducements for referrals by Medicare or Medicaid providers; medical identity theft involving Medicare and/or Medicaid beneficiaries; and abuse or neglect in nursing homes and other long-term-care facilities. According to a video posted by the OIG, improvements include making the website mobile compatible and providing additional information regarding the complaint process. See the OIG website here for more information about this complaint hotline.
