Bright Horizons Notifies Current and Former Employees of Recent Data Breach

On March 27, 2023, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Inc. (“Bright Horizons”) filed a notice of data breach with the Massachusetts Attorney General after learning that an unauthorized actor logged on to the company’s corporate system and stole files containing confidential employee information. Based on the company’s official filing, the incident resulted in an unauthorized party gaining access to current and former employees’ names, addresses and Social Security numbers. After confirming that consumer data was leaked, Bright Horizons began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals who were impacted by the recent data security incident.

According to this source, on December 11, 2022, Bright Horizons detected unusual activity within its computer system. In response, the company began working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity specialists to investigate the incident.

The Bright Horizons investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party accessed the company’s computer system, removing certain files. It was later determined that some of these files contained confidential information belonging to current and former employees.

Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, Bright Horizons Family Solutions began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, address and Social Security number.

On March 27, 2023, Bright Horizons Family Solutions sent out data breach letters to all individuals whose information was compromised as a result of the recent data security incident.
