In view of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) has announced that patent, trademark, and industrial design deadlines that fall due between March 16, 2020 and March 31, 2020 will be extended until April 1, 2020.

Smart & Biggar will continue to meet original CIPO deadlines upon receipt of timely instructions from our clients.

CIPO may decide to extend deadlines further, depending how circumstances evolve. Further details may be found on the CIPO website here.
