As part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recently implemented coal ash disposal regulations, utilities and other power producers were required to publicly disclose certain documents by November 16, 2016 that support implementation and compliance with the EPA’s coal combustion residuals (CCR) Rule. The publicly accessible reporting requirements of the CCR Rule are designed to increase transparency and to provide insight into the risks posed by coal ash storage and disposal. Among other things, power producers must disclose closure plans, safety assessments and structural stability assessments. These regulations affect more than 290 coal power plants. For further information, the EPA has compiled a list of publicly accessible Internet sites hosting compliance data that can be accessed at the following link: https://www.epa.gov/coalash/list-publicly-accessible-internet-sites-hosting-compliance-data-and-information-required
