On May 19, 2023, Centex Personnel Services, LLC was listed among the organizations that were affected by the Carvin Software data breach, which leaked the confidential data of more than 356,000 people. What We Know So Far About the Centex Personnel Breach
News of the Centex Personnel data breach is still fresh; however, what we know at this point comes from Carvin Software’s official filing with the Maine Attorney General. According to this source, on March 9, 2023, Carvin Software detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, the company isolated the affected servers, secured its systems, and launched an investigation into the incident.
The Carvin Software investigation confirmed that certain files were removed from the company’s network by an unauthorized party between February 22, 2023 and March 9, 2023. Through subsequent investigation, Carvin Software learned that some of these files contained confidential information pertaining to employees and/or customers of Centex Personnel.
Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, Carvin Software began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, and financial account information.
On May 2, 2023, Carvin Software sent out data breach letters to all individuals whose information was compromised as a result of the recent data security incident. However, Carvin later learned that additional data was impacted by the breach and released additional data breach letters, including to those affiliated with Centex Personnel, on May 19, 2023.
