Stark, C. J. Claim construction opinion issues regarding eleven terms from four patents.  A Markman hearing took place on December 21, 2015.

The disputed technology relates to electronic spreadsheets. The following terms were construed:

  1. “single disk file”
  2. “storing first and second pates of the plurality of cell matrices such that they appear to the user as being stored within a single file”
  3. “linking”
  4. “displaying said user interface object with a value of said value property corresponding to the value of said value property of the given cell object”
  5. “end-user input”
  6. “in response to first user input, generating a user interface object”
  7. “receiving first user input for generating a user interface control of a plurality of different types for receiving end-user input”
  8. “specifying a base set of information cells”
  9. “new version”
  10. “different versions”
  11. “maintaining the new version by storing additional information for only those portions determined to have changed”
