Application period for FY2025 Funding from the New York City Council is open!
DATE: January 8, 2023
Practice Areas: Government Relations
The window for Fiscal Year 2025 City Council Discretionary Expense funding runs from Thursday, January 4, 2024, to Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
Organizations seeking funding from their Council Members or from the City Council Speaker for Fiscal Year 2025 must submit applications by this deadline. The discretionary funding application is available on the New York City Council website, here.
Each year, Members of the Council allocate discretionary funds to not-for-profit organizations to meet local needs and fill gaps in City agency services. Discretionary spending is a critical tool in meeting needs in our communities.
There are also new requirements for organizations seeking funding this year. Groups that did not previously receive funds from our office in FY24 only must also fill out a supplemental form, here. The supplemental form is critical in strengthing the application of groups that have not received funding in the past.
“The rules and regulations have changed significantly this year,” said Sid Davidoff, Founder, DHC Legal. “Anyone seeking this funding needs to follow the requirements to the letter or risk losing critical funding.”
Organizations are urged to complete individual applications to Council Members and separate applications for Speaker funding or initiative funding.
Additionally, applications for city capital and non-city capital funding have their own deadlines and requirements. Read more about them here.
