On July 7, 2017, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a final rule to delay the effective date of the new conditions of participation (CoPs) for home health agencies, which is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register on July 10, 2017. Originally set to take effect on July 13, 2017, the effective date for the new CoPs has now been extended to January 13, 2018, allowing home health providers an additional six months to comply with the new CoPs. The final rule also includes two conforming changes to the regulatory text to change the phase-in date for the performance improvement project requirement to July 13, 2018, and the new personnel requirements for administrators to January 13, 2018.
