Andrew N. Mais, the Connecticut Insurance Department Commissioner, announced last week that the department was awarded their re-accreditation by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) during the NAIC’s national meeting on Dec. 6.
The NAIC Financial Regulation Standards and Accreditation (F) Committee conducts yearly reviews of accredited jurisdictions and each jurisdiction undergoes a full accreditation review every five years. The full accreditation review includes a in depth review of the departments laws and regulations, the financial analysis and financial examinations functions, organizational and personnel practices, and organization, licensing and change of control of domestic insurers, to assist in determining a state’s compliance with the accreditation standards.
