What Caused the Consilium Staffing Data Breach?

The Consilium Staffing data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Consilium’s filing with the Attorney General of Massachusetts provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on October 24, 2023, Consilium identified suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, Consilium secured its IT network and then launched an investigation with the help of external cybersecurity experts.

Consilium’s investigation concluded on February 7, 2024, at which point Consilium determined that the unauthorized party was able to access certain files containing confidential consumer information.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Consilium Staffing reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. Consilium completed this process in April 2024 and finalized a list of affected parties on April 6, 2024. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, date of birth and driver's license number.

On July 15, 2024, Consilium Staffing sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
