What Caused the BackChecked Data Breach?

According to this source, on October 29, 2024, BackChecked informed CIC that it had experienced a data security incident in which an unauthorized party was able to access BackChecked’s computer network and accessed—and possibly obtained—confidential information stored therein.
In response, BackChecked stopped all unauthorized access and launched an investigation into the incident. Ultimately, this investigation confirmed that, on September 26, 2024, the unauthorized party was able to access files and folders containing confidential job applicant information.
