Tuesday, March 9, through Thursday, March 25 (noon Eastern time), is the H-1B “professional” registration period for employers hoping to obtain work authorization of up to three years initially for a foreign recruit or employee. Limited information on both the intended employer petitioner and the H-1B foreign beneficiary must be supplied to register.
The U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services has now set up its electronic system for registration on its website (www.uscis.gov). By registering an intending employer seeks to be chosen at random to petition for the statutorily authorized annual quota of 85,000 visa slots. The agency intends to notify employers of their selection by March 31; H-1B petitions will be due by June 30, 2021.
