As its next step in the creation and implementation of a cybersecurity plan, the State of Connecticut has created a Cybersecurity Strategy document. This strategy specifically highlights the roles and vulnerabilities of state government, municipalities, business, higher education and law enforcement, and Governor Dannel P. Malloy has announced that “its principles apply universally, and will form a pathway to a more detailed, operational action plan.”

As detailed in the executive summary, the strategy has two main missions. The first is aimed at putting the entire State on the same page when it comes to cybersecurity and the second is to put the State on the same path towards dealing with the issue in terms of executive leadership and awareness, literacy, preparation, response, recovery, communication and verification. The strategy includes lists of questions that business leaders of both large and small organizations can consider to bolster their organization’s ability to prevent and respond to cyberattacks.
