The Environmental Council of the States (“ECOS”) has released a report titled:
ECOS Compendium of State PFAS Actions (“Compendium”).
The Compendium is authored by:
- Sarah Grace Hughes, Senior Project Manager, ECOS.
- Julia Henderson, Project Associates, ECOS.
By way of introduction, the Compendium notes that while the United States Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies have taken actions on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“PFAS”), that the states:
…play a critical role in implementing and enforcing federal rules and regulations, and have enacted their own legislation, policies, and directives to address PFAS across a wide range of programs.
The Compendium states that it undertakes:
- An outline of various aspects of PFAS policies and science.
- National summary of PFAS actions.
- Individual findings from 52 jurisdictions (i.e., 50 states, District of Columbia, and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands).
