Encouraging Findings from SCCE Survey on Compliance Effectiveness

A long-term review of our collective efforts in ethics and compliance shows that programs are not just managing compliance incidents but also preventing them.

Everyone in compliance should be encouraged by the “2016 Compliance Effectiveness Survey” recently released by the SCCE. It confirms something we all believed to be true -- that robust compliance programs both prevent risks as well as elevate organizations to do better.

One finding that is of particular interest to me is the featured statistics about employee training:

“Compliance training drives inquiries or reports of wrongdoing over time. Overall 82% of compliance professionals surveyed said that training led to some increase in inquiries and reports about the topic. In addition, 76% report that training has resulted in an employee report that led to action that prevented or stopped wrongdoing.”

As organizations struggle to demonstrate effectiveness and justify the need for more budget to drive culture changes, it's reassuring to see that no matter which industry you are in, or how large or small your workforce, quality compliance programs and training help organizations prevent wrongdoing and protect the bottom line.
