One of the biggest changes in healthcare over the past 15 years has been the move to electronic medical records. In 2009, only 12% of hospitals and 22% of physician practices utilized a certified electronic health record. As of 2021, those percentages were up to 95% of hospitals and 78% of physician practices. Electronic medical records have a number of advantages over their paper counterparts, but they do present some compliance challenges.
