10:00 - 11:00 a.m.   Reimbursement Strategies
CASA’s recent member survey found that reimbursement is the number one issue worrying ASC leaders.  There are many different business approaches utilized by ASCs to maximize reimbursement in competitive markets.  This session will review current trends and address the most effective strategies that ASCs can implement to remain competitive.

Track A: Perspectives in ASC Valuation

As ASCs are looking for new partners and aligning with health systems, management companies and other strategic investors, it is important to gain insight into ASC valuation and trends.  This session will address common approaches applied in valuing ASCs and strategies for maximizing value.

Track B: Monitoring Compliance and Physician Relationships
Legal compliance can be difficult to maintain when navigating the various demands of daily operations.  Issues arise around physician investor buyins and buyouts, and when entering into contracts with referral sources, including consulting, provider and service arrangements.  This session will address common pitfalls to avoid and provide strategies to ensure your ASC is achieving compliance.

1:15 - 1:30 p.m.   Break
1:30 - 2:30 p.m.   Breakout Sessions
Track A: Top Five Considerations in Operating Agreements
Effective operating agreements are the lifeblood of a prosperous ASC.  This session will focus on best practices and the top five considerations every operating agreement should address, including buyback triggers and pricing, board composition and voting, transfer restrictions, compliance with ASC safe harbors and healthcare laws, and non-competition covenants.

Track B: Managing Medicated Employees and Physicians
ASCs are increasingly dealing with issues around the impaired employee or physician.  Drug diversion is becoming more common and difficult to track.  This session will address topics regarding the growing prevalence of cannabis and other drug use, the impact on work productivity and patient safety, common warning signs to look for if you suspect a problem, and what to do about it.

2:30 - 3:00 p.m.   Break/Exhibit Hall
3:00 - 4:00 p.m.   Physician Peer Review and Quality Control
Outcomes of physician peer review and oversight gone wrong is the focus of one of the most popular podcasts in the country – “Dr. Death”.  This session will focus on challenges and system barriers to overcome when facing a physician who crosses the line and jeopardizes patient safety.  This panel will be led from a physician perspective, and will include a discussion of where to draw the line between medical malpractice and criminal activity and the impact on practicing medicine in today’s environment.
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.   Executive Roundtable - Forecast for the Future of ASCs: Challenges and Opportunities
As the healthcare industry evolves, amid growing government and public scrutiny, how can ASCs position themselves?  This panel of healthcare executives and advisors will address current trends in the marketplace and the challenges and opportunities for ASCs to maximize their potential in 2019 and beyond.
