Filling in the Gaps on Medical Device Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity has become a hot button topic for many in the medical device industry following the announcement of several high-profile medical device vulnerabilities and in light of the recent WannaCry ransomware attack that spread across the world in May. Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in collaboration with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate, convened a public workshop on cybersecurity of medical devices. The workshop gathered input from major stakeholders in the industry on how to address gaps in cybersecurity, including what next steps industry leaders need to take to ensure their products are safe from attacks.
