On June 14, 2024, Globe Life Inc. filed a notice with the Securities and Exchange Commission after experiencing a cybersecurity incident. In this notice, Globe Life explains that the incident “likely resulted in unauthorized access to certain consumer and policyholder information.” Globe Life’s investigation is ongoing; however, if the company confirms that a data breach occurred, it will be required under federal law to send data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the recent data security incident.

If you receive a data breach notification from Globe Life Inc., it is essential you understand what is at risk and what you can do about it. A data breach lawyer can help you learn more about how to protect yourself from becoming a victim of fraud or identity theft, as well as discuss your legal options following a possible Globe Life data breach. Was There a Globe Life Data Breach?

Globe Life only recently filed notice of a possible data breach with the Securities & Exchange Commission. Thus, it is too soon to say whether there was a Globe Life data breach. However, Globe Life’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission sheds some light on the situation.

According to this source, on June 13, 2024, Globe Life received an inquiry from a state insurance regulator, which prompted the company to review “potential vulnerabilities” that, in the company’s own words, “likely resulted in unauthorized access to certain consumer and policyholder information.”

In response, Globe Life disconnected the affected system and launched an investigation to learn more about the incident and what, if any, consumer or policyholder information may have been subject to unauthorized access. At the time of the SEC notice, all other Globe Life systems remained operational.

Globe Life filed its notice with the SEC on June 14, 2024. At that point, the company’s investigation was still ongoing. If Globe Life’s investigation confirms that sensitive consumer information was compromised, it will be required to send out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. If sent, these letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
