On Friday April 17, 2020, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the creation of a Strike Force to Open Texas tasked with determining how to safely and strategically restart Texas’ economy. To inform the task force’s work, the Governor’s Office is soliciting information on the return-to-work plans of Texas businesses through two questionnaires, one for businesses deemed essential by the Department of Homeland Security/CISA guidelines, and another for all other businesses. The Governor’s Office has asked that responses to these questionnaires be aggregated by industry to the extent possible. Turnaround is quick, as responses are requested no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2020. The Governor’s Office has advised that respondents are not required to answer every question and that survey responses may be subject to public disclosure under open records laws.
