What Caused the Grede Holdings Data Breach?

The Grede Holdings data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Grede’s filing with the Attorney General of New Hampshire provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on January 27, 2025, Grede experienced a cybersecurity incident that affected portions of its IT network. In response, Grede notified law enforcement and then launched an investigation to learn more about what happened and whether any information in the company’s control was compromised.

Through this investigation, on February 6, 2025, Grede confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access its network—including folders containing confidential information—between January 27, 2025 and January 28, 2025.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Grede Holdings reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted.

On March 5, 2025, Grede Holdings sent out personalized data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. While the publicly available data breach letter on the New Hampshire Attorney General’s page does not mention what data types were leaked, these personalized letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
