On Friday, May 22, the Department of Health and Human Services announced it will allocate additional CARES Act funding to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to assist with COVID-19 related expenses and lost revenue.

Each facility will receive a fixed distribution of $50,000 as well as $2,500 per bed. All skilled nursing facilities with six or more certified beds are eligible for the funds. Like prior distributions under the CARES Act, facilities receiving funds will have to attest that they will only use the funds for a permissible purpose as set forth in the terms and conditions and will comply with future government audit and reporting requirements. Additional information is available at www.hhs.gov/providerrelief.

SNFs with questions about compliance with the terms and conditions or reporting requirements should consult counsel.
