What Caused the Human Technology Data Breach?

The Human Technology data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Human Technology’s filing with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights provides some important information on what led up to the breach. Human Technology also posted a website notice describing the incident.

According to these sources, on March 14, 2024, Human Technology learned that it was the target of a cyberattack after noticing suspicious activity on the company’s computer network. In response, Human Technology made efforts to secure its systems and then began an investigation.

Ultimately, this investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access and potentially acquire certain confidential information that was stored on the company’s IT network between the dates of March 14, 2024 and March 15, 2024.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Human Technology reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, date of birth, driver’s license or State ID, health insurance information, medical information, passport number, and financial account information.

On July 1, 2024, Human Technology sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
