On April 19, 2023, IMA Financial Group, Inc. (“IMA”) filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Texas after experiencing a data security incident resulting in confidential consumer data being made accessible to an unauthorized party. According to this source, on October 19, 2022, IMA detected unusual activity within its computer network. In response, the company secured its network and then began working with a team of cybersecurity specialists to investigate the incident.

On October 19, 2022, the IMA investigation confirmed that certain folders on the company’s computer network were accessible to an unauthorized party. It was later determined that some of these folders contained confidential information belonging to consumers.

Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, IMA Financial Group began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted. IMA completed this process on March 10, 2023.
