Experience Matters When Choosing Your Early Stage Startup Team
An important hiring skill is understanding how to optimize costs while also increasing your chance for success as a startup. Much of this success is tied to the experience of the members of your team. This Forbes article provides questions to consider when deciding who to bring onto your startup team.

Supreme Court Rules That Federal Law Barring Sex Discrimination in Employment Applies to LGBTQ Individuals
The Supreme Court, in a 6-3 decision, ruled that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 applies to LGBTQ individuals, finding that LGBTQ employees are protected by Title VII’s existing protections on sex. This article from Entrepreneur discusses the court’s surprising split and the cases that the ruling, which came during Pride month, was based on.

Leading Virtually
As many of us settle into the “new normal” of working remotely, leadership plays an important role in how companies and venture capital firms can find a path forward in the midst of a pandemic, a racial injustice crisis, and an economic crisis. This AVC article describes how leaders can make sure that voices are being heard, including by giving teams more time off and checking in with people that they don’t normally have one-on-one meetings with.

Running Out of Money Isn’t the Worst Scenario for Your Startup
Many startups have a false sense that money is what matters most in order to stay successful. This article by Medium counters, arguing that time is the most valuable resource and details how “zombie companies” can make just enough money to pay back interest but are unable to make time, thereby hindering their potential for growth.

Good Riddance to the Traditional IPO Roadshow
As the IPO market begins to pick up again, companies that anticipate going public are not able to travel and meet in-person with investors like they used to. This Medium article argues that the virtual IPO roadshow is an alternative that is working, allowing companies to reach more investors in different places in less time. The author predicts that instead of returning to the traditional IPO roadshow model post-pandemic, we may see a hybridized roadshow.
